Among the various option to protect the branch from "undesired activities", the most relevant seems to permit intervention only to the members of the 4TUResearchData-Carpentries organisation. However, it is unclear to me who's in and who's out, and especially the false negatives (who is out and should be in).
The instructors of SWC 2305 are not part of the organisation, and they should IMHO.
This issue is to be escalated with someone who has authority or top-down view of the organisation and its teams. @MpaulaL @Metahofzicht?
