Iteration history

Pass 1

  • Finding: VitePress' default content container constrained the custom homepage to 1152 px, making the hero title wrap to four lines and weakening the reference composition.
  • Fix: removed the default homepage container width and padding while preserving the standard chapter content width.
  • Result: the desktop hero now fills the intended frame and the headline holds the reference's two-line composition.

Pass 2

  • Finding: shared chapter heading ornaments were also being applied inside homepage sections.
  • Fix: scoped the pixel heading ornament and chapter typography to document pages only.
  • Result: homepage section headings and chapter headings now each retain the intended hierarchy.

Pass 3

  • Typography: passed. Pixel display type is reserved for labels, metadata, and accents; Chinese reading text remains legible.
  • Layout and spacing: passed. Hero, value strip, route cards, task grid, side navigation, article body, and page navigation align consistently.
  • Color and contrast: passed. Acid green, ink black, and warm paper form a consistent high-contrast system in both page types.
  • Icons and imagery: passed. HackerNoon Pixel Icon Library is used for interface illustrations; existing chapter images remain real content assets.
  • Responsiveness: passed. At 390 px, both pages have no horizontal overflow, actions stack correctly, and chapter content remains readable.
  • Interactions: passed. Search, theme switching, primary CTAs, cards, and chapter navigation are available and preserve VitePress behavior.
  • Accessibility: passed. Semantic headings and landmarks are retained, icon buttons have accessible labels, visible focus styles are provided, tap targets are sized for mobile, and reduced-motion preferences are respected.

Acceptable differences from the reference

  • The closest matching open-source pixel face icon is used instead of reproducing the reference illustration exactly.
  • Navigation proportions were adapted to the project's existing information architecture and search behavior.

Result

final result: passed
