Inquiry about Aspen V12.1/V14-compatible CCSI MEA dynamic model package #27

Dear CCSI support team,

Thank you for developing and sharing the CCSI MEA model.

I would like to ask whether there is an updated dynamic model package compatible with Aspen Plus / Aspen Dynamics V12.1 or V14.0, or alternatively whether the source code / build instructions can be shared so that I can rebuild the model in these environments.

From the distributed files and documentation, it appears that the currently available dynamic model may have been prepared for Aspen Dynamics V8.4 or V8.8. Unfortunately, I do not have access to Aspen V8.8 and am not able to obtain that version, so I cannot use the originally targeted older environment.

Since I could not use the distributed dynamic package directly, I tried to construct an Aspen Dynamics model starting from the available steady-state package. I started from an Aspen Plus model using ccsi11.dll, changed the absorber and desorber to equilibrium columns to avoid USRHLDUP, USRMTFRC, and USRINTFA, and also avoided using USRPCK for pressure-drop calculations.

After converting this modified model to Aspen Dynamics and running a steady-state simulation, I received the following error:
An exception (code 0xc0000005 - access violation) occurred in user procedure pRDKUsr, loaded from C:\Program Files\AspenTech\AMSystem V14.0\Bin\Dynamics.dll

For clarity, the DLLs I examined during troubleshooting were:

  • ccsi11.dll (64-bit): used in the distributed steady-state Aspen Plus model (mea_sm)
  • gold.dll (32-bit): examined as a possible alternative because it appears to support USRPCK
  • jcm.dll (32-bit): associated with the distributed dynamic model package (mea_dm)

I would greatly appreciate your guidance on the following:

  • Whether a V12.1- or V14.0-compatible dynamic model package already exists
  • Whether the currently distributed dynamic-model-related files are intended only for Aspen V8.4 / V8.8 or other older / 32-bit environments
  • Whether the FORTRAN source code or build instructions used to generate the dynamic-model DLLs can be shared if an updated package is not available

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Kind regards,
Yurim
