Definition: A standardized geographic identifier for a metropolitan statistical area as defined by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Required to align BLS QCEW wage data and MIT Living Wage Calculator cost-of-living data to a common geographic unit, and/or option set(s).

The EW Framework Collaborators Group proposed a new element to capture the geographic identifier for a metropolitan area.
