Widget for homescreen

Stocard had an interesting function: adding widget in hone screen, to open fast specific card. Is it possible developing something similar?

Stocard's widgets (they are two with same function, just different cards' sizes) allows to have in homescreen a quick list of all stored cards, and tapping on one open barcode in app. So instade of open stocard and look at cards list, i already have card list in my homescreen

Catima has a "shortcut", which most Android launchers show as a "widget". It's just the small icon of one specific card to instantly open that card. On Samsung, it's "Widgets -> Catima -> Card shortcut".

But I see, you want a widget that shows all your cards. I created #2351 to track this request :)

I see. In my device (xiaomi) i don't find the shortcut you refer to (version 2.34.4)

I don't have any Xiaomi device so I can't look around myself. I'm sure it must be somewhere but sadly nobody has responded when I asked if anyone knew more about Xiaomi devices :(

Ok, maybe I understand the problem, but i'm not able programming android applications.

Usually, shortcuts are added to homescreen directly from an application (like, I can add a website from Firefox or Chrome to homescreen). This adds an icon representing the website with a small icon representing that is a shortcut of which application.

Maybe you programmed app in order to add shortcut from outside (and it works in samsung), but with xiaomi devices the shortcut must be created from inside the app. So for example if you add an option like "create shortcut in homescreen" in card's options, it would work.

A widget with all cards to open just one is a function that I appreciate but it could wait. The ability to add shortcut from inside application I think it's a very valuable feature.

Hello. It will be great to have such widget in Catima.
I moved my cards from Stocard to Catima (made script to export data from Stocard to Catima import file) and then I found that Catima haven't widget. I'm very disappointed.

Looks like a good start, though there should already be card elements ready (used in the MainActivity) that you could reuse for consistent styling.

Feel free to send in a MR when you feel it's ready for review, Kotlin preferred over Java btw :)

Widget is working, I'm satisfied with it functionality.

The general way to contribute on GitHub is to:

1. Press the fork button on the repository you want to contribute to
2. In your fork, create a new branch
3. Upload your changes to your branch with whatever tools you prefer
4. Create a pull request with the original repository as a target

Not creating a new branch generally makes it hard to work together on a change, as the main branch is generally protected. But feel free to make a pull request. From a very quick look I don't think it can be merged as-is as it contains quite a lot of unrelated changes, but it could be a good starting point for someone to clean up and finish, so it's definitely a helpful step in the right direction :)
