7. Powering the TCD

The TCD can be powered in one of two ways:

  • The Micro USB jack via the ESP32
  • The green screw connector

In either case, the power supply must be able to provide at least 1000 mA. If the TCD does not turn on reliably or keeps restarting, you probably need a higher-output power supply.

If you are experiencing problems with the TCD starting up or restarting, try turning down the volume with the knob on the back of the control board. Turn it towards you to turn down the volume.

For Micro USB

You can use either:

  • Desktop computer USB port
  • A phone charger

In either case, you will need a Micro USB to USB cable, which commonly comes with phones and other electronics.

Green screw connector

  • A DC power supply with voltage between 6-20V, like this one
  • Wired to a 12V car battery (don't forget a fuse)
