Description
Samagra is creating a citizen-facing chatbot for Indian citizens to have easy access to information that is housed with the government. Currently, the team is exploring Haryana as a state for implementation but the goal is to make the chatbot state agnostic, and scalable nationally.
The use cases the team has explored till now are: Accessing info about Parivar Pehchan Patra, Government Jobs, Land and Revenue Related service. Another one that the team would like to explore but hasn’t yet is information about public transport.
We would like the C4GT team to focus on the use case for accessing info about public transport for citizens.
Why public transport? What is the scope?
In exploring use cases for Jan Sahaiyak, public transport came up as a possible key use case for which citizens need clear and reliable information, most often from govt sources.
For citizens, public transport related info is scattered across departments, type of transport etc. Urban citizens navigate various modes within cities, rural-urban transport is needed by rural citizens and intercity transport is easier to navigate for online first users. Small local efforts such as m-indicator in Mumbai have helped to integrate various sources and provide real time information to citizens, but nothing exists as a complete and scalable solution.
Hence it is important to deep dive and understand what information needs citizens have regarding public transport that can be provided by Jan Sahaiyak.
Key design-research questions
- What is the unmet need citizens have related to info on public transport?
- What are the common digital behaviors of rural, urban citizens of low to medium literacy? Particularly, what are their preferences in terms of getting info?
- What is a suitable, intuitive interface to give them access to the relevant info?
Current State
Currently, there is high uncertainty about this use case (the what and how) and yet the team feels that it could be one of the most valuable use cases, especially for urban India.
Desired State
- Sharp articulation of use case
- Strong info architecture of Jan SahAIyak: with focus on public transport and where it fits into the app
- Clear vision of UX UI for public transport use case of Jan SahAIyak
Goals & Mid-Point Milestone
- Insight gathering: Existing behaviors and unmet needs of users related to public transport; Comparison of rural, semi urban and urban; Understanding of how to build trust in authenticity of info
- Insight presentation: Use cases, Target market, Market sizing
- Prototypes/ Low fidelity mockups
- Testing of prototypes – Mid point milestones
- Final UX UI
- Product roadmap
Acceptance Criteria
- A report summarizing the insights and recommendations
- Design directions / product roadmap
- Final clickable prototype
