I'm also experiencing this issue so I recorded OBS with this plugin on the left and the normal media source on the right. The playlist is also a couple frames behind despite them both being restarted at the same time

Edit: After using handbrake to test a bunch of different codes and settings it seems as though it's related to the bit depth of the file. 8bit looks normal but 10 and 12 bit are both extremely dark.
