## 2026-04-07

Attendees: Anna Aitchison, CJ Yuan, Colin Farquhar

### ❗Actions from last time

- [x] Everyone: Think about what the Onboarding module should look like. Share thoughts in next meeting (and come join us in person on April 20th if you can!)
- [x] (After this ITP finishes): (Carry Over) Swap order of Wireframe and Form-Controls exercises.
- [ ] Colin: (Carry Over) Decided that we will make a list of alternative activities to replace/supplement study group
- [ ] Daniel: (Carry Over) Split up the SDC legacy code module
- [ ] CJ: (Carry Over) Recording a "How to orient yourself to a PR video"
- [x] Daniel: Merge all the curricula
- [ ] Anna: Move all of the CYF-Workshops into the curriculum

### 📝 Agenda points

#### Onboarding module direction

* Maybe have a first PR which is just an "orient yourself to PRs on GitHub".
* Maybe try to pull some JS back into the Onboarding module, and accordingly a bit meatier actual-useful-work expected PRs.
* People often struggle with some basic programming fundamentals, e.g. "what is a variable declaration".
* Better curated resources for people to reference online.
* Be aware we've swung too far in each direction of "too little" and "too much" over Onboarding iterations.
* Don't want to lose git from the start.
* Currently we can't rely on people having laptops in Onboarding - it's possible we could get access to some laptops we're ok with losing to lend out.

#### Workshops move into the curriculum repo

Anna has been working on this! Three things that came up:

* Anna has so far been doing this under her username - will move it over to CYF soon
* get-forms workshop requires disposable branch previews, which we probably don't want to turn on in the curriculum repo.
* Would probably be ok to just remove the workshop, as it's an optional thing in a study group so likely not really done

#### GitHub Projects

We seem to have stopped using our GitHub Project / backlog - how do we feel about that?

Daniel's perspective: People don't often have a lot of time to be browsing for things to pick up, so tend to share out urgent things as they come up.

We have a running list of tasks that we copy forward across meetings, which means we hopefully actually prioritise and get things done.

There can be value in tickets, both for self-organising/documenting (e.g. [Anna's workshop merge ticket](https://github.com/CodeYourFuture/curriculum/issues/1822)), or for getting structured information about problems from volunteers/trainees.
