Work problem
Developers using Codex for work often need to keep personal, work, school, and client Codex state separate without manually swapping tokens or configuration.
Codex relationship
codex-profiles launches Codex CLI and Codex Desktop with isolated CODEX_HOME directories, so each profile has separate auth, config, sessions, connectors, plugins, caches, logs, and local state.
Output
It helps users reliably launch Codex under the intended profile/context. It does not generate code or review output itself.
Human review boundary
A human should verify the selected Codex profile before using Codex output, and should remember that OS-level credentials such as SSH keys, browser cookies, and GitHub CLI auth are still shared by the OS user.
Limits
Community-maintained; not an official OpenAI project.
Isolates Codex CODEX_HOME state, not the full OS user, browser cookies, SSH keys, or GitHub CLI auth.
Does not read, copy, print, parse, or migrate auth.json tokens.
Submitter affiliation
Disclosure: I maintain codex-profiles.
Confirmations
- I am not implying OpenAI endorsement, sponsorship, certification, partnership, approval, or affiliation.
- I included a source that readers can verify.
- I stated limits and review boundaries.
