TigerVNC supports Wayland with w0vncserver and Xfce should also have their Wayland support mostly in place. Maybe this can easily be added?

i'd say "easily" is the wrong word here :-) There are still a lot of incompatibilities with wayland. But right, it seems as this is the future. But it will almost certain brake existing setups.
