How to read the current generation rate of a machine/block?

Since I couldn't find any information about this topic, I wanted to ask if there is a way to get the current energy transfer rate of a block or machine.

For example, a Mekanism solar panel internally shows its FE/t generation rate, but when I connect any kind of reader (especially the Machine Reader), I only get the current energy buffer and capacity.

I'd like to display the generation rate of my solar panel. I could probably create something that calculates it using a delay and comparing energy values over time, but that seems overkill.

So my question is: is there a way to display the transfer or generation rate of a machine/block directly? If not, is there a specific reason why this information isn't exposed?

This information is not available in any machine, unless it is specifically keeping track of this internally. Like when they're buffering the net transfer rate for their specific purpose (such as the display panel for showing the rate of an EnderIO energy bank). For this reason this information cannot be read from a machine directly, it has to be calculated live. Other information such as the capacity, current buffer level etc, those are kept track by the machine in question directly and are easily available for our aspects.
