Problem in latest version

I updated the plugin from version 0.13.2 to 0.15.0 and used the ModelType.gemma4 parameter. However, there was an issue with loading the model and it reported an error saying that the .litertlm file should use Dartffi instead of Engine Factory. Could you please clarify if the usage of the new version model has changed?

Hi @unrealcjt — that error comes from EngineFactory (Kotlin/MediaPipe path) refusing a .litertlm file because on 0.14.0+ .litertlm models go through Dart FFI, not the Kotlin engine factory. The most likely cause is that the install call didn't pass fileType: ModelFileType.litertlm explicitly — the default value is ModelFileType.task. Try:

If you're already passing that and still seeing the error, please share the full installModel call + logcat — happy to dig deeper. Closing for now; please reopen if it still reproduces on 0.15.0 with fileType set explicitly.

Reopening — apologies, jumped to close. The fileType: ModelFileType.litertlm hint above is a guess at the cause; staying open until you can confirm it solved it, or share what you're actually passing if it didn't.

This is a migration issue from 0.13.x → 0.15.x.

In 0.13.x the engine was picked at runtime per file extension. In 0.14.0+ the engine is picked from the persisted ModelFileType recorded at install time. If your 0.13.2 install registered the model as task (default), 0.15.0 keeps routing it through the MediaPipe EngineFactory — which now rejects .litertlm.

Two ways to fix on your side:

Option 1 — explicit fileType on install:

Option 2 — wipe the old install and reinstall: delete the cached model + the installed-model record, then install again with fileType: ModelFileType.litertlm.
