What happened, and what did you expect?

Not a single folder wants to be indexed. Not even the log gets written!

Reproduction

I'm just starting this using codebase-memory-mcp --ui=true --port=9749 and not running any agent at all yet. Just wanted to check the web UI and see this thing glow.

Then add any local folder through the web ui.

Unfortunately adding any folder through the web uit just doesn't do anything at all. Then wehn i look in the general tab i do see a few lines on of which being level=info msg=ui.index.fork bin=codebase-memory-mcp log=/tmp/cbm_index_237121.log but when i cat /tmp/cbm_index_237121.log that whole file just doesn't exists at all.

Can't show because it doesn't write log files....

Hey, thanks for reporting. I understand, that the UI experience is a bit frustrating. The major work lies in the agentic experience rather than the human one (kinda the pitch of the project). I will try to improve the UI stability in upcoming releases (or potentially a community PR will do the trick).

This is not just the UI, the log file also doesn't work at all... That hints at quite a bit more fundamental being broken.

Yes, i have the same issue. I tried to index a project via ui on ARM64 macOS and it doesn't work. It doesn't even log anything.

Just to help others who face this same issues like @fatih-onventis

I did got it "working". When calling through mcp it does create the index and it does show up in the website. The website is quite useless though. That fancy graph, yeah that only looks good in pictures. On any even small project the graph is already too big to zoom in on any spot.

While i did get the mcp to work and i did enforce the model to use the mcp for reads/grep/glob,.. I was unable to verify that it actually used any of it at all. I only have this mcp which my agent shows as 0/1 mcp servers, when it's used it would flip to 1/1 but that never seems to happen.

Perhaps it works great on one of the supported agent frameworks but it sure "smells" like it's not working on the pi agent.

I'd love to have this working but this is a quite complex vibe coded project that isn't that straightforward to debug, even with a coding agent helping. So i'm just gonna leave it there.
