This is a quick guide of how to setup your environment to build and deploy DroidPlanner to your device using the source code. The basic three steps are:

Clone the source using GIT. Or download a snapshot of the current state of the code (not recommended).
Install the development environment (IDE + Android SDK). By default the project is built with Android Studio running with Java 1.7+.
Setup Google Maps API.
