Is it possible to provide an adapter that can directly access the file system and create a self-deployable cloud desktop?

Deploy to my linux server, real file system access:

• document
• process
• other system status

I think it is possible with a back-end type of system running to allow access. But otherwise it would not be possible as this is fully client side.
