I downloaded both the Demo for Windows and Linux and everything works correctly on both systems!
The only flaw is that I'm finding it very difficult to integrate everything into a new project and the "example" folder forces me to keep another instance of godot open to follow in detail how to set the various nodes and above all understand why it all works like this...
