Refine and standardize the Spanish translation of the Contributor Covenant 2.1 Code of Conduct for clarity and consistency

Documentation:

  • Change title and key terminology to refer to "colaboradores" and unify community language
  • Revise phrasing across commitment, standards, responsibilities, scope, and reporting sections for improved readability
  • Rename section headers and enforcement levels (e.g., "Corrección"→"Advertencia", "Expulsión temporal"→"Suspensión temporal", "Expulsión permanente"→"Suspensión definitiva")
  • Improve list formatting and update attribution and FAQ links

## Alcance

Hey! Thanks for the suggestion and for looking over the text. I really appreciate your input!

My intention in using the equivalent of designado/a was to ensure the Code of Conduct is inclusive right from its wording. By using a gender-inclusive form, we make sure that any person, regardless of their gender, feels explicitly included and represented in that role.

Since this document aims to be a guide for the entire community, using language that embraces everyone helps reinforce an environment of equality and respect. It's a small detail, but I think it contributes significantly to the spirit of the code. What do you think of that approach?

I hear your intention and I like it. I think the o/a construction is ugly and we can do so much better. This document can be so beautiful.
I sometimes use the feminine to gesture a different way from patriarchy. I sometimes use a gender free word. I sometimes use a longer construction to avoid any reaction, depending on what feels beautiful in the text. I think the mix can make the text speak to everybody, and move everybody in a kind way.

My suggestions:
representante designada
representante designade
persona representante designada

All sound good here to me. All better than designado/a. The third long option is boring 🙂

Thanks for explaining your perspective, I really appreciate it. I completely agree the goal is a document that is both inclusive and elegant.

You've offered some great alternatives. My main thought, especially for a formal Code of Conduct, is to prioritize unambiguous clarity for everyone. While using a specific form (like the feminine) can be a powerful statement, and progressive constructions are valuable, they can sometimes create a small barrier for readers not yet familiar with them.

I think we can achieve all our goals by slightly rephrasing the sentence to avoid the issue altogether.

What if we changed "representante designada" to:

"...o la participación en representación de la comunidad en eventos..."

This version is concise, completely gender-neutral, and avoids any awkward constructions. It focuses on the action, not the person's title, which feels clean and effective.

What do you think of this approach?
I feel it might be the perfect solution we're both looking for.

You will see in my translation of 3.0 that I aim for less formal and more aesthetic. I don't really care about the tone that we choose in the end, I'm just happy this text exists.
