Bugfix Rewards Program

The FreeCAD Project Association (FPA) funds a rewards program to thank contributors who improve the reliability and stability of FreeCAD.

The rules are simple: fix 5 reward-eligible issues from the FreeCAD GitHub issue tracker and receive a reward of €250. Here is how this works.

  1. You must register for the rewards program to be eligible to receive a bounty payout, and to gain access to the FPA Reward Program Eligible Issues project board (this is a spam-prevention measure). Register by filling out the form here.
  2. To qualify as one of your 5 issues, the issue must be on the the FPA Reward Program Eligible Issues project board.
  3. Submit a pull request for each issue and collaborate with maintainers on potential improvements in your patches.
  4. Once you have 5 patches merged within the last 12 weeks, create a new issue in the FPA tracker, include links to 5 qualifying GitHub issues you resolved, and provide links to the commits or pull requests where your fixes were merged.
  5. The FPA reviews your submission and does the payout.
  6. Submit further reward requests, provided each one involves a new set of qualifying fixes.

There are some limitations that should be mentioned:

  • Rewards will not be retroactively granted for PRs merged before the start of this program.
  • Rewards will not be awarded if the qualifying issue was caused by the same person who resolved it. If the issue is older than 6 months, this limitation no longer applies.
  • The budget for the program is limited, so the program may be temporarily suspended from time to time if the approved funding is exhausted.
  • The FPA Reward Program Eligible Issues project is assigned by the Maintainers group. You cannot add your own issues to the project.
  • The FPA reserves the right to change the terms of the rewards program. A PR is evaluated according to the program rules at the time the PR was first submitted, or, at the PR authors' request, the current rewards program rules.

To all contributors: keep being awesome!
