I found a few games that run well, but they don’t fit well into the current categories and tags. There are a bunch of games (Category: Games) that run well, some work with the remote and some only with a gamepad (Tag: requires Gamepad). But using a bluetooth gamepad with a smart TV sounds like a reasonable requirement for games.
Work with remote:
Enchanted Fortress, Frozen Bubble, Hydra Slayer, Cheer Bear Puzzle
Work but have distorted screen due to missing portrait mode: (No idea if Android TV stretches them like FireOS does)
Vector Pinball
Work partially with remote:
Libre Memory Game (menu and surrender button not reachable, but playing works), SecUSo 2048, SecUSo Memory, SecUSo Battleships (control works for these SecUSo games, but there is no highlight for visual feedback)
Only work with gamepad:
Open Surge, Rocks'n'Diamonds, Shattered Pixel Dungeon (uses right analog stick as a mouse to work around dpad limitations)
