Writing runtime state or journal files directly into the source code directory (__dirname) can cause issues in environments where the application directory is read-only (such as Docker containers or restricted production environments). It also pollutes the repository during local development.
Consider allowing the journal path to be configured via an environment variable, falling back to the local path if not provided.
