Hubs community members occasionally request a way to set up Hubs Community Edition (CE) locally (i.e. to a home desktop or a mini PC) or perhaps on a cloud virtual machine. The advantage of this 'local' method is direct non-mediated control of a Hubs instance and freedom from monthly hosting costs ranging from ~$40 to $100 US per month. This method is also desirable for those that have the technical skills and possibly those that want to limit create permissions on the CE instance (i.e. reasonably restrict access to a maker space, cafe, or college course).
In ~May 2025, community member @ajlennon posted his how-to video. In discussion with Hubs Foundation, he graciously agreed that HF could translate the content of his video into a set of written instructions.
This issue represents an overall tracking item that all Hubs Teams can use in relation to this project. The end goal is a set of instructions added to Hubs Documentation (Hubs docs).
This will be known as the Mini Kube Project for the Hubs Communication and Documentation Team.
Projected Tasks
At this time, any Hubs Programming related issues/PRs are unknown to me, but I would be grateful if they are linked.
