The EBRAINS Neuromorphic Computing Job Queue API processes personal data on behalf of EBRAINS. This document summarises what is stored, why, and who to contact about your data. It is not a substitute for the EBRAINS Privacy Policy, which governs the wider EBRAINS Research Infrastructure.
The data controller for EBRAINS is the EBRAINS AISBL, in cooperation with the host organisation of the service (CNRS for this component).
For questions about your data in this service, contact the maintainer (Andrew Davison) or the EBRAINS Data Protection Officer (privacy@ebrains.eu).
Records held in the service database:
| Data | Source | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| EBRAINS username (sub claim) | EBRAINS IAM (OIDC) | Identifying the submitter of a job, project owner, quota holder |
| E-mail address | EBRAINS IAM (OIDC) at job submission time | Sending notification e-mails about project review and job completion |
| Collab membership | EBRAINS Collaboratory API at request time | Authorising access to jobs and quotas associated with a collab |
| Job script and configuration | Submitted by the user | Executing the job on the chosen neuromorphic platform |
| Job inputs / outputs / logs | Submitted by the user; produced by the platform | Returning results to the user and audit trail |
| Project metadata (title, abstract, resource request) | Submitted by the user | Allocation and accounting of compute time |
| Quota usage records | Generated by the hardware providers | Accounting against the user's project allocation |
| API keys (hardware providers only) | Generated server-side | Authenticating SpiNNaker / BrainScaleS clients pulling jobs |
The service does not store passwords (authentication is delegated to EBRAINS IAM) and does not store IAM access tokens beyond the lifetime of a single request.
Processing is performed on the basis of the user's consent (acceptance of the EBRAINS Terms of Use at IAM sign-up) and the legitimate interest of operating a shared research infrastructure.
- Active job and project records are retained for the lifetime of the user's EBRAINS account, so that users can review and re-run past submissions.
- Daily database backups are kept for 30 days.
- Server logs (nginx access log, application log) are kept for at most 90 days.
- Account deletion: when a user is deleted from EBRAINS IAM, their records are anonymised on request — username and e-mail are replaced by placeholders, while jobs and quota usage are retained for aggregate accounting.
You have the right to access, rectify, restrict, port or erase your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact privacy@ebrains.eu or the maintainer above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
- EBRAINS IAM (EBRAINS AISBL) — authentication.
- EBRAINS Collaboratory (EBRAINS AISBL) — group membership lookups.
- EBRAINS Drive / Bucket (EBRAINS AISBL) — optional storage for job inputs and outputs when the user chooses these locations.
- JSC Cloud (Forschungszentrum Jülich) — hosting of the API and database containers.
- CINECA ADA Cloud (CINECA) - hosting of the API and database containers.
No personal data is transferred outside the EU/EEA.
