Status: Blocked

Calendar widget implementation is currently blocked due to dependency incompatibility.

Technical Details

Problem:

• hydebar uses pop-os/iced fork (v0.14.0-dev) with custom features (wayland, winit)
• iced_aw (additional widgets library with DatePicker) requires official iced from crates.io
• Official iced 0.13 lacks custom features and has different API (iced::advanced vs iced::core)
• Official iced 0.14 not yet released on crates.io

Migration Complexity:

• 25+ compilation errors across 2 core files when switching to official iced
• Requires refactoring of wayland integration and core widget implementations
• Breaking changes in API surface between pop-os fork and official iced

Resolution Options

1. Wait for iced 0.14 release - Official iced 0.14 + iced_aw 0.13 compatibility
2. Custom calendar widget - Implement calendar UI from scratch using current iced version
3. Fork migration - Refactor codebase to work with official iced 0.13 + iced_aw 0.12

Recommendation

Wait for iced 0.14 official release, then:

• Migrate from pop-os fork to official iced 0.14
• Add iced_aw 0.13 dependency
• Implement calendar with DatePicker widget
