Preserving and Managing IIIF Guided Tours: Export, Portability, and Bulk Editing Needs #29

Description

@brittnylapierre

What is your idea, question, or challenge related to working with digital media tools or IIIF?

I would like to be able to create a guided tour, e.g. with Exhibit, and then to be able to download the full scenario: an overview of the labels or annotations, manifests (including information about the selected image, not only the book), order... everything. This is useful in case the guided tour is no longer operational (e.g. manifest URLs have changed, as was the case for instance with manifests at Ghent University Library due to a new provider) and for the archives of our institution. Linked to this wish: it would be useful if the editor page of guided tours apps allowed you to do bulk changes to labels/annotations, instead of changing them one by one. (Don't know if this already exists somewhere?)

What were you trying to accomplish when your question/challenge/idea arose?

I had already created quite a large number of guided tours with Exhibit, and am trying to find a way to streamline the process as well as to deal with IIIF post-infancy hiccups such as changing manifest URLs.

Which of the following areas of digital media engagement most closely relates to your question/challenge?

Presenting or creating annotations

Which user groups/audiences would benefit from the resolution/answer of your question/problem?

Artist/Creators, Curators, Students, Educators, Librarians, Archivists
