If you check the built-in modes, you'll notice they don't actually include any special prompts.
To be honest, I'm not sure if there are hidden built-in prompts when the box is left blank, as I haven't had a chance to review the kilocode source code yet. However, the good news is that you can create your own custom agents with tailored prompts. If you're looking for an experience similar to (or even better than) Architect mode without the hassle of crafting everything from scratch, feel free to check out my post: #8799. Setting it up is pretty straightforward. Just import the If you're working on a complex project and want the agents to put in some extra effort, you can manually trigger a more intensive mode by adding this to your User Prompt: You can do that manually whenever needed, or just leave it up to the AI to decide how complex the task is. |

After updating to Kilo Code 7.x, I noticed the Architect mode was removed and replaced with Plan mode.
I heavily rely on Architect mode to write architecture docs and detailed design documents.
The new Plan mode is only for task breakdown and cannot produce professional, structured architecture/design documents at all.
I’ve tried using High/Max thinking levels and spent several times more tokens than before, but still cannot get acceptable output.
Architect mode was one of the most valuable features in Kilo Code.
Please bring back Architect mode in future updates, or provide an equivalent architecture-focused mode.
Thank you for your hard work!
