Unable to connect to lightning node and no error is displayed

When I try to connect over lndconnect link or qr code, my zap iOS wallet loads before showing me the send and receive buttons. The app continues loading with the buttons greyed out until it loads back into the connect to lightning node page. I have reinstalled the app and restarted the lnd node. I have managed to connect my desktop zap wallet to my node.

Where is the lnd node running? On your desktop?
