Contributor Code of Conduct

Our Pledge

We as members, contributors, and leaders pledge to make participation in our community a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, visible or invisible disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.

We pledge to act and interact in ways that contribute to an open, welcoming, diverse, inclusive, and healthy community.

Our Standards

Our standards provide a framework for expected behavior in our community:

Positive Behaviors

  • Use welcoming and inclusive language
  • Being respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences
  • Gracefully accepting constructive criticism
  • Focusing on what is best for the community
  • Showing empathy towards other community members

Unacceptable Behaviors

  • Use of sexualized language or imagery
  • Trolling, insulting or derogatory comments
  • Personal or political attacks
  • Public or private harassment
  • Publishing others' private information
  • Any other conduct which could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting

Evolution-Specific Conduct

Given the experimental nature of self-improving AI systems, we expect:

For Contributors

  • Transparency: Clearly document evolution-related changes
  • Safety First: Prioritize safety in evolution features
  • Testing: Ensure thorough testing of evolution features
  • Collaboration: Discuss major evolution changes with maintainers

For Evolution Features

  • No Hidden Agendas: Evolution features should be transparent
  • Respect Boundaries: Evolution should not modify without permission
  • Document Changes: All evolution changes should be documented
  • Safety Mechanisms: Include rollback and safety checks

Our Responsibilities

Project maintainers are responsible for:

  • Clarifying standards: Clarifying and enforcing our standards of acceptable behavior
  • Taking action: Taking appropriate and fair corrective action in response to any instances of unacceptable behavior
  • Maintaining context: Creating and maintaining an environment where all contributors feel welcome and safe

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies within:

  • Project spaces: All project spaces (GitHub, discussions, issues)
  • Public spaces: When an individual represents the project or community in public spaces
  • Evolution discussions: When discussing evolution features and safety

Enforcement

Reporting Issues

Instances of abusive, harassing, or otherwise unacceptable behavior may be reported by:

  • Contacting the project team: [contact method]
  • Creating a private issue: Use the "Report a security issue" link
  • Email: For sensitive matters

All complaints will be reviewed and investigated promptly and fairly.

Consequences

Project maintainers have the right and responsibility to:

  • Remove comments: Remove, edit, or reject comments
  • Remove contributions: Remove, edit, or reject contributions
  • Temporarily ban: Temporarily or permanently ban any contributor
  • Report: Report to platform administrators if necessary

All decisions will be made in a context that is perceived as fair and reasonable.

Evolution Safety

For evolution-related concerns:

If You Notice Unexpected Behavior

  1. Report immediately: Create an issue with evolution-safety label
  2. Document: Document what you observed
  3. Disengage: If using evolution features, disengage immediately
  4. Rollback: If possible, rollback to previous version

For Evolution Contributors

  • Safety audits: Code affecting evolution behavior gets extra review
  • Transparency: All evolution-related changes must be documented
  • Testing: Evolution features require extensive testing
  • Human oversight: Critical decisions should preserve human oversight
