Is there no way to activate an iPad 1 without an activation ticket?

I have an iPad 1 Wi-Fi version at home, but I've never used it and therefore never activated it. Damn it! I tried to activate it today but found that I can't. Is there any other way?

I forgot to mention that the system version is iOS 3.2.2.
