touch4 ios7
Legacy iOS Kit can be used to restore iPod touch 4th gen devices to iOS 7, a version that these devices did not support.
This page is for iOS 7 on the iPod touch 4 only. For iPad 1, go to touch3-ios6
This was previously a tethered upgrade, but is now untethered thanks to De-Rebus-Antiquis-v6 by synackuk and Pingzi610 being utilized here.
Even though now untethered, this is still not a recommended upgrade to do due to broken device features still present as mentioned below.
- Connect your device to your PC/Mac.
- Start the script by running
restore.sh - Select Restore/Downgrade -> iOS 7
- Download/select the IPSW for iPhone3,3 - iOS 7.
- Download/select the IPSW for iPod4,1 - iOS 6.1.6.
- Start the restore.
- Enter kDFU/pwnDFU mode when prompted.
- When the restore is done, the device should boot to iOS 7.
If you want to tether boot, the option is still available, but it is now optional due to the untether update.
- Connect your device to your PC/Mac.
- Start the script by running
restore.sh - Select Just Boot -> iOS 7
- Enter kDFU/pwnDFU mode when prompted.
- The device should now boot.
- For cli command of this, here:
./restore.sh --just-boot --device=iPod4,1 --build-id=11D257(11D257 is for 7.1.2)
Here are the device features that work with this upgrade.
- Wi-Fi
- Multitouch
- Cameras
- Jailbreak (Cydia, tweaks, IPA installs, etc)
There are some broken features that come as a result of this upgrade, which makes this procedure not recommended to do.
- Bluetooth
- Audio
- Rotation
- Possibly more broken stuff
