IHttpContext::AllocateRequestMemory Method

Allocates a specified amount of memory.

Syntax

virtual VOID* AllocateRequestMemory(
   IN DWORD cbAllocation
) = 0;

Parameters

cbAllocation
[IN] The number of bytes to allocate.

Return Value

A pointer to VOID.

Remarks

The AllocateRequestMemory method allocates an amount of memory that is specified by the cbAllocation parameter and has the lifetime of the current request. The server will automatically reclaim this memory at the end of the request.

Example

The following code example demonstrates how to use the AllocateRequestMemory method to create an HTTP module that allocates a chunk of memory to retrieve the value of the HTTP User-Agent header.

[!code-cppIHttpContextAllocateRequestMemory#1]

Your module must export the RegisterModule function. You can export this function by creating a module definition (.def) file for your project, or you can compile the module by using the /EXPORT:RegisterModule switch. For more information, see Walkthrough: Creating a Request-Level HTTP Module By Using Native Code.

You can optionally compile the code by using the __stdcall (/Gz) calling convention instead of explicitly declaring the calling convention for each function.
