Strange server activity

After some players reported extreme lag i decided to try and join and check for myself. I was unable to join due to the following message:

I then checked the log and noticed this:

There was not even close to 50 players online. Maybe about 15 players total. This issue lasted only for a few minutes and then suddenly everything was back to normal and i could join the server with no problem.

Maybe it's due to a DDOS on the server, it can be... But not sure
I tried to connect myself to the server without an error, this issue needs more investigation.
