It wasn't a predicament, but rather a punishment in the mythos. Philosophers later spun it into why he continued to do his task despite how meaningless it seemed. And that he continued because he believed that what he was fighting for was worth it.

He actually argued that suicide goes against Existentialism, not the other way around. He argued that suicide is something he frowns upon as an idea to create meaning for life. This entire section is misleading in wording. He never suggested ending one's life to escape, and also wasn't directly for living a meaningless life either.
He does note that it is an issue in philosophy, but only states it's of "little use to us", and that there isn't more meaning in death than there is to life. And instead will turn to question what makes life worth living.

While it is great that the differences were mention here, it comes off as wordy and out of character. Not only that, it also creates contradictions in this dialogue, I would suggest removing it entirely, and also changing the line above a little bit.
