Hi Moonshot team and community,
I would like to raise a compatibility request that I suspect affects quite a few developers here.
The situation:
kimi-for-codingis currently inaccessible from Cline, the VS Code coding agent extension. Every request returns a403 access_terminated_errorwith the message:What makes this puzzling: Roo Code — which is a direct fork of Cline sharing most of the same codebase — is already supported. The two tools are functionally equivalent from an API consumption standpoint. The only practical difference is the client identifier.
Why this matters: Cline has over 56k GitHub stars and is one of the most adopted open-source coding agents. A significant share of developers who purchase a Kimi Code subscription are Cline users, and they currently have no path to use the product they paid for — except switching to a different IDE plugin.
I have also filed a GitHub issue for tracking: MoonshotAI/kimi-cli#2322.
What I am asking for:
This seems like a low-effort change on Kimi's side with a meaningful payoff for the user base. Happy to provide any additional technical details that would help move this forward.
Thanks for building a great product — hoping to use it more broadly soon.
