Summary

Here are some bits of information we would have found helpful as we worked our way through this the first time. There is some overlap/connection with our feedback on the install requirements page.

• In the "ONTAP Storage system credentials" section:
  • The Storage Endpoint needs to be a management LIF, not a storage LIF
  • The account must have vsadmin, or the custom role as outlined in the Appendix on the Next Steps page
• In Blueprints step 8 (credentials):
  • A Windows domain account must be added directly to the local Administrators group. Shift will (incorrectly) detect the domain account as not having admin rights if the account is a member of a domain group that is a member of the Administrators group.
  • For the Linux account, the without password part should be emphasized. We missed it on our first couple read-throughs of this document.
  • An explanation of what the 'Apply to All' button actually does would be appreciated.

Also, the bulk of this page is duplicated on the multiple "Migrate VMs Using Shift Toolkit" sub-pages. As such, this feedback also applies to all of those pages as well. I think it would be less confusing if this page ended near the top, right after the password change section. If not that, then at least a section telling people something like

Everything below is an overview of the general migration process. Please refer to the most appropriate sub-document under Migrate VMs Using Shift Toolkit for your specific combination of Hypervisors.
