Does not handle -1 properly

When the device is in Standby mode, peoplecount returns -1

Even though the goal would be to have the device always on (awake or halfwake mode), it is nessary to better handle this case in the code.

Seems like the default behavior would be to interpret -1 as 0, since we can assume the device is in standby mode if not used, and then, nobody is present.
Moreover, the wakeuponpresence setting would have woken up the device is setup properly.
