Proof of Concept for Trace Capture, Decode, and Visualization

Description

The PoC shall provide a first draft integration for trace capabilities into Keil
Studio with the following steps:

1. Capture trace from pyOCD/JlinkServer's raw SWO trace port
2. Store raw trace stream to a file for later decoding
3. Decode SWO trace into CTF trace
4. Load and visualize CTF trace

Out of scope

Out of scope for the PoC are

• Trace configuration
• Trace context meta data capturing, e.g., channel use, symbol address resolution, data type evaluation, etc.

For the PoC, the official chain is:
pyOCD -> cmsis-trace-decoder -> raw trace / raw meta -> cmsis-trace-decoder -> CTF/XML -> cmsis-trace-server -> Eclipse Trace Compass

Currently the cmsis-trace-decoder is capable of:

• capturing pyOCD trace
  • write raw trace file
  • write CTF / TraceCmpass XML
• read raw trace + raw meta and convert to CTF / TraceCmpass XML

Currently missing:

• gather DWT information from GDB about data type, name
• Decision: who writes raw trace file?

All Repos should now be up2date to create a vsix package for this PoC.
Additionally, the tester must install Eclipse Trace Compass Extension (Name in sidebar: Trace Viewer) for VS Code.
