Adds a new jersey3-spring-boot4 library option to the jaxrs-jersey generator that produces a standalone JAR deployable with Spring Boot 4 (Spring Framework 7 + Jakarta EE 11) instead of a WAR artifact.

Key changes:

  • New library constant LIBRARY_JERSEY3_SPRING_BOOT4 registered alongside jersey2/jersey3
  • processOpts() conditionally generates Spring Boot files instead of web.xml/Bootstrap.java
  • New Mustache templates in JavaJaxRS/libraries/jersey3-spring-boot4/:
    • pom.mustache: JAR packaging with spring-boot-starter-jersey parent BOM (Spring Boot 4.0.1, Java 17+)
    • SpringBootApplication.mustache: @SpringBootApplication main class with explicit @ComponentScan
    • JerseyConfig.mustache: ResourceConfig @Component that registers all JAX-RS resources via package scan
    • application.mustache: application.properties with server port and Jersey application path
    • ApiOriginFilter.mustache: servlet Filter annotated with @Component for Spring Boot auto-registration
    • README.mustache: usage instructions for Spring Boot deployment

PR checklist

  • Read the contribution guidelines.
  • Pull Request title clearly describes the work in the pull request and Pull Request description provides details about how to validate the work. Missing information here may result in delayed response from the community.
  • Run the following to build the project and update samples:
    ./mvnw clean package || exit
    ./bin/generate-samples.sh ./bin/configs/*.yaml || exit
    ./bin/utils/export_docs_generators.sh || exit

    (For Windows users, please run the script in WSL)
    Commit all changed files.
    This is important, as CI jobs will verify all generator outputs of your HEAD commit as it would merge with master.
    These must match the expectations made by your contribution.
    You may regenerate an individual generator by passing the relevant config(s) as an argument to the script, for example ./bin/generate-samples.sh bin/configs/java*.
    IMPORTANT: Do NOT purge/delete any folders/files (e.g. tests) when regenerating the samples as manually written tests may be removed.
  • File the PR against the correct branch: master (upcoming 7.x.0 minor release - breaking changes with fallbacks), 8.0.x (breaking changes without fallbacks)
  • If your PR solves a reported issue, reference it using GitHub's linking syntax (e.g., having "fixes #123" present in the PR description)
  • If your PR is targeting a particular programming language, @mention the technical committee members, so they are more likely to review the pull request.

Summary by cubic

Adds a new jersey3-spring-boot4 option to the jaxrs-jersey generator to produce a Spring Boot 4 JAR using Jersey 3 and Jakarta EE 11. This lets server stubs run with an embedded server instead of a WAR.

  • New Features

    • New library option jersey3-spring-boot4 registered alongside jersey2/jersey3.
    • processOpts() switches to Jakarta imports and Swagger2 annotations and generates Spring Boot files instead of web.xml/Bootstrap.java.
    • New templates under JavaJaxRS/libraries/jersey3-spring-boot4/: pom.mustache (JAR, Spring Boot 4.0.1, Java 17+), SpringBootApplication.mustache, JerseyConfig.mustache, application.mustache, ApiOriginFilter.mustache, README.mustache.
    • Ensures Schema imports for models when using this library.
  • Migration

    • Generate with --library jersey3-spring-boot4; Java 17+ required.
    • Runs via mvn spring-boot:run or java -jar target/<artifact>.jar using spring-boot-starter-jersey.

Written for commit ac9dda1. Summary will update on new commits.
