merge: investigate surprising divergence warnings

When testing merging locally last week, I experienced surprising divergence warnings on merge and checkout.

Is this because version hashes are out of date? Is the divergence warning just wrong (surely not?). Am I just losing the plot?

I've created a fresh project in a local app, with a sandbox.

I run open project pull to pull both projects down.

When I am on main, running openfn checkout dev switches projects no problem

But from dev, openfn checkout main says The currently checked out project has diverged! Changes may be lost

Why?

Basically the same thing on pull: pulling remote changes on the sandbox gives me a divergence warning (even though I haven't changed anything)
