Unifi VPN Client "feature"

Below is a screenshot of the ISP's tools. That Arelion ISP is actually a PIA VPN server that my UCG connects to and that I use as a policy route for some devices on my network. It's not really my ISP, which is Xfinity, but it could be looked at like an ISP. Do you want to call this out as a VPN connection?

Arelion is a Tier 1 carrier though and that hop is a router that gets saved as a target. If it's really surfacing through VPN only you can turn off the targets during Upstream Discovery or in the Latency Targets list. But do make sure... I am seeing Arelion as a peer to Comcast.

So the interesting thing is even for Comcast and AT&T subscribers, some internet traffic will always go through (another - in the case of AT&T) Tier 1 carrier for transit. They don't peer with absolutely every CDN or cloud provider. So there's always some useful 3rd party transit ASN to monitor.

But I think what I may work on is separating out another ISP ASN object for hops that are a certain amount beyond the access network that is clearly transit. There's no ASN boundary to figure this out but the RTT groupings basically tell you.

It does surface that Comcast really has kind of a garbage backbone for people in Utah. Everything going west routes through DEN and then all the way out to Cali. So that rating I grade there... It's not entirely unfair because those hops are surfaced going to popular / major CDN and cloud services.

Anyway, tangent. I'll report back if I have any UX improvements here.
