Feature request: Sending eMail when event is triggered

Is is possible to send an eMail to a defined address, when the event/alert has been triggered?
If so, please provide an example - and if not, please consider it as a serious feature request.

Thanks for the suggestion, I think it's very likely possible to implement, however I'm not sure exactly how to do it. I could try to add that as an option when I get some free time, however, that probably won't be very soon.
