Q: Statically linked libssl on linux?

This would make running the ext on servers with steamrt sniper possible without rebuilds, since the shipped libssl is ancient in comparison to what this is built with
Is there a reason its static only on windows?

Due to complexity and size concerns, enabling CI for the Windows version with dynamic linking to OpenSSL takes a long time. On Linux, since most systems come with OpenSSL preinstalled, static linking is completely unnecessary. If your library version is too old, you should consider updating it instead.

The official distro steamrt3 for tf2, cs2 and dota2 uses openssl 1.1.1w. See:

I think it would be benefitial to support it, so users can use the official steam runtime for their servers, for example via the docker image valve provides and maintains

I might consider adding a statically linked build version.

I have found out that openssl isn't the only issue on steamrt, they also bundle old glibc meaning build would need to use it too, it might be better to build separately for these platforms.

This issue extends to sm-ext-json:

I previously made a sniper build for linux as a temp local solution 31b7c6c
I can pr an updated workflow that creates a 3rd build using it if you think thats an alright solution, this way libssl doesn't need to be static either
