Weapons & Aliens: Revised explosion and blood decals.


Description

Improves the rendering and placement logic of explosion and blood decals.
Decals are now correctly applied to all surface orientations — including walls and ceilings — and appear on both brush geometry and model entities, rather than being limited to horizontal world surfaces only.


Affected Entities and Effects

  • Alien blood splatter (asw_alien_shared.cpp)
  • Cluster Grenade (asw_grenade_cluster.cpp)
    • FG-01 Hand Grenades
    • Grenade Launcher
  • Explosive barrels (asw_barrel_explosive.cpp)
  • M478 Proximity Incendiary Mines (asw_firewall_piece.cpp)
  • ML30 Laser Trip Mine (asw_laser_mine.cpp)
  • Vindicator Incendiary Grenades (asw_grenade_vindicator.cpp)

Testing / Verification

  • Verified decal orientation on all major surface types (floor, walls, stairs).
  • Confirmed decals appear on both world brushes and model entities.
  • Validated correct behavior for all affected explosion and blood effects.
