Reproduction steps

The unread count in the top banner that takes you to the unread page randomly goes down after refresh when you scroll through the unread page.

Steps to reporoduce:

1. Click on the unread banner at the top and scroll through it
2. Come back to the main page and refresh it
3. The unread count in the banner reduces
