Site is not updating

Pull requests are getting merged, but website will not update

There seems to be consistent failures of CI/CD tests that I cannot debug, which are preventing any updates from getting through to the site.

This repo has a somewhat unusual setup in that the main branch is called dev and the deployed branch called master, perhaps CI is choking on that? I sent a pr which should fix that problem

I also noticed that we have both gh-pages and netlify on this repo, perhaps it would be easier from a ci/cd perspective to go all in on netlify, or alternatively, to replace it with a gh-pages deploy preview script

IIUC #380 fixed the site updates and we can even see my old PR effect #330. Is that right? @bproffitt
