Fans often going to 100% after shutdown when Fan Control is used

Hello,

I have an issue where my computer's fans (except the GPU fans) go to 100% after the system shuts down.
This occurs about 50% of the times. When it happens, the fans remain at 100% until I reboot, and they only slow down once Windows is booting.

It's a problem for me because when I shut my PC down, I have to wait for it to actually turn of to check if the fans go crazy or not. If they do, then I have to start the computer again and turn it off again (crossing fingers for the problem not to occur again).

Hi @Rem0o , no my motherboard is an ASRock AB350 Gaming ITX/ac, running the latest v10.50a BIOS available.

Wait how can your fans stay on at 100% if you "shutdown"?

Great question ! I simply click "shutdown" in Windows, and once everything seems to shutdown (for example all LEDs including the ones of the GPU) I hear and see the fans (especially the CPU fans) go to full blast.

Is it some kind of weird sleep state? Shutdown should well... shutdown, no power remaining.

@Oscar7601 Do you mean that during the shutdown process, until the system actually powers off, the fans spin up to full speed? OR That after a shutdown, when you next power on the system the fans spin up to full speed until windows has loaded (and presumably FanControl takes over if set to autorun)?

I have the latter problem (on my Dell SFF Tower using DellPlugin) in that when I power on my PC the fans often spin up to full speed. Things calm down again after a short while but the initial noise is a shock. -- This didn't happen before using FanControl though!

I'm wondering if Windows shutdown is forcing FanControl to close before all of it's internal shutdown processes have finished (i.e. by terminating the process or failing to wait for it to finish)? Either that or whatever internal hand-over of control from FanControl back to the system BIOS/EC is failing? -- Whichever, this is somehow causing the start-up fan speed to be set to maximum, at least until some kind of active controller regains authority over it. On my Dell the system EC does actually start to calm the fans down before Windows has finished loading, I just don't know how/why the start-up speed is set to full ... from a powered-off state!
