Describing pre and post processing needed through the run of a workflow

When a workflows is going to be run, several staging steps are performed before the execution (workflow engine fetching and installation, input downloads, container downloads) and even some deeper pre-processing, like uncompressing some of the inputs from fetched compressed archives or decrypting inputs. Something similar can happen on outputs, like packaging and / or encrypting outputs.

So, should the documentation describe these pre and post processing steps around the workflow execution be described? Should these actions belong to these specifications, or other ones like 5-s RO-Crate?

I think that the "Workflow Run" in "Workflow Run RO-Crate" helps draw the line between what belongs in the spec and what doesn't. Pre-processing and post-processing can vary wildly, so they belong in other, likely more specific, profiles, while for WRROC it's better to focus on the workflow run part.
