When double clicking on an application icon, the application hangs

We have a weird problem with an application called WordQ. We have configured an icon so that the student can launch manually the application. If the student clicks on that icon only one time, everything works fine. But if they double click on it as most do, the application hangs and doesn't start. Anyone experienced such an issue ?

Sounds like an issue with the third-party application itself; as in the operating system, a single-click suffices to start an application via the taskbar.
