Intune profile deployment working but showing error.

Hello,

Our deployment is working however we're still getting a "you have installed Safe Exam Browser (SEB), but it isn't configured yet." warning.

Our deployment of SEB 3.10.0 has been set up the with the following:

• Deployed via Intune win32 app to student devices
• Config file deployed to %ProgramData%\SafeExamBrowser available to system since we're going to run a second profile
• New local profile provisioned on the device as Examuser
• Students log out of their account and sign in as .\examuser
• SEB launches, along with Wordpad, Adobe reader, VLC
• No network is available in the profile

Clearly the .seb file is working since it's launching the apps and functioning correctly, but the powers that be do not want an error in red for the students during an exam. Can we do anything about this?

Notes:

• This error is reproduced on multiple physical machines and VMs, which have been wiped to remove possibility of previous config errors
• No other software is launched in the profile
• I'm not sure how the log files will be handled in this setup vs the log file documentation.

Hello, are you opening SEB via the start menu(directly from windows) or are you opening a SEB-file(an exam) that launches SEB?

If you are launching SEB with no exam/test attached to it you get that screen. This is my test-computer:

Hi JStromGY, Thanks for your response! We're running as a windows startup application and not using SEB Exam files.
There's no actual issue with the app, only the display of that page.

You'll need to configure a start URL in your configuration, otherwise the default web page shown above will be loaded (see also https://safeexambrowser.org/windows/win_usermanual_en.html#GeneralPane).

Should you want to use SEB without its internal browser application, then you can simply disable it as is described in the documentation under Browser > Use SEB without browser window (see https://safeexambrowser.org/windows/win_usermanual_en.html#BrowserPane).

That looks like exactly what I'm after, thank! Does this work while the device is offline too? Offline by default is preferred for us.

Yes, that should work as long as you have a valid network adapter configuration (i.e. MAC address); it's best if you try it out, but disabling the browser application should certainly be no issue whatsoever.
