vscode integration progress

Very impressive codebase. I have filesystem and terminal integration proof-of-concept working in vscode web (chromium only, firefox seems to break).

this is serving from my home computer, I will keep it running for a few days. Some things might not work in vscode web, i'm getting better at it but its very complex in there.

If you want to maintain and improve nodepod as a standalone library for the long term, I will continue to layer in more functionality and send over some PRs for some bugs i'm finding. If you don't want to maintain nodepod over the long term as an independent OS library, I totally understand, and i'll swap nodepod for some other tooling on my end.

I think it would be fun to reach out to elfconv and see if he would like to try to get a proof of concept going of linux binaries working from the command line

Thanks for sharing this, it's genuinely impressive work. Getting filesystem and terminal integration running inside vscode web is not a trivial thing to pull off, especially given how awkward that environment can be, so nice job. I'll take a look at the link while you've got it up.

One thing worth clarifying on the direction of the project: Nodepod is designed to be closer to Node.js than to an actual shell environment. There is a bash-style terminal included, but the core intent is to mirror Node rather than to be a full bash replacement. Worth keeping in mind as you layer more functionality on top, since some things may fit more naturally than others depending on how closely they align with that model.

To your main question, yes, I do plan to maintain Nodepod as a standalone library for the long term. I'm fairly busy at the moment so the pace will be on the slower side, but I'll keep working on it as time allows. Please do send over PRs and open issues for any bugs you come across. If they start to stack up, I'll set aside a weekend and work through them in one go rather than handling them piecemeal.

The elfconv idea also sounds like a fun direction. A proof of concept for running linux binaries from the command line would be a great experiment, so by all means reach out and see if there's interest on their end.

Hey guys, I have a solution for that. Some time ago, I implemented a custom file system in https://github.com/esm-dev/modern-monaco. Here's my ugly but functional FS integration for Nodepod: https://github.com/guarana-studio/areia/blob/main/src/lib/fs.ts.
